Dancing since the age of three, Ulpa always knew she was born for it. It all started from tutoring and assisting choreography for her schoolmates on the occasions of her school programs to representing Gujarat and its folklore Nation and Worldwide.

Raised in Baroda Gujarat, she believed she could dedicate her life for dance when she won “Kalapi Trophy” and stood out as a champion among 450 contestants at a tender age of 20.

For her love towards dancing and imparting her gesticulate skills she started with her own Academy post completion of her Visharad in Bharatnatyam, in Baroda. Her academy “Shivam Kalakendra” recently celebrated completion of 25 glorious year of training over more than 600 students in Classical, Semi classical and Folk dances.

Ulpa Desai has performed and choreographed, in solo and ensemble across India and in USA and Malaysia. Her forte is fusion style of combining Classical, Samay Classical, Folk and Contemporary moves. Her ensemble has earned both national and international acclaim for its ability to redefine both dance and drama, to create and communicate with powerful imagery and captivating dance.

When asked who inspires her as an artist, she gives her heartfelt credits to her Guru and her soul mate Smt. Rama Shrikanth for all her success and existence as a dancer today.
